Tenacious D: the self titled album: 9-25-02 On September 25, 2001 the D released their first album. Those who pre-ordered the album from the internet, also recieved a complimentary official Tenacious D Sock. Although they strayed from their orginal sound which consisted solely of JB and KG on accoustic guitars, the D managed to maintain their edge and pull out all the stops for a friggin great album. The album just recently went gold, having sold over 500,000 copies even after being heavily bootlegged. It has also been inducted into the top 40 metal albums of all time by Spin magazine. The album was produced by the Dust Brothers and contains guest appearances by the Foo Fighter's front man Dave Grohl, Phish's Page McConnell, the Vandal's Warren Fitzgerald and Redd Kross' Steve McDonald. The addition of Dave Grohl on drums as well as the extension of several songs was a definite plus. But the addition of electrig guitar riffs as well as new, more popy beats, definitely took away from the D's originality and gave the album a more commercial sound. However, once you get past the changes, you'll found yourself wrapped up in the intricacy of Jack and Kyle's vocal harmonies as well as their hilarious interludes. The only real grudge one could have against this album is the fact that it wasn't a double disk. Unfortunately, the D were unable to fit all the classics onto this 21 track masterpiece. Just a few of the songs that didn't make the cut include Jesus Ranch, Cosmic Shame and Special Things. On an interesting side note, the original album's back cover showed two babies sitting in the middle of a pentagram chained to the devil. However, this apparently offended someone (what doesn't these days) so the babies where airbrushed from the album.

Tenacious D: Fun Pack: 4-29-02 This album was released in limited quantities and was only available in a limited number of record stores. It contained four tracks, and was given away free by some stores with the album and sold by other, more greedy stores for $5 to $6.
Tenacious D: Unicorns and Rainbows Very little is known about the D's next album, however JB did let it slip that they are thinking about the title Unicorns and Rainbows, which happens to be the theme for the official Tenacious D cum rag. It has also been rumored that the D's next album will be the sound track to their upcoming movie: Tenacious D In the Pick of Destiny.
