| I just saw the D play at the Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee, and I have to say that they rocked my freakin socks off! For being two guys armed with nothing more than accoustic guitars, JB and KG rocked the Eagles Ballroom harder than bands of thrice the volume. They performed the entire album, the majority of the songs from the TV show, and JB as usual managed to put a bit of cream in the audience's jeans with a wicked solo on the almighty saxaboom. If your not familiar with the saxaboom, it's a toy electronic saxaphone that spits out electronic beats like theres no tommorow. Between Jack's saxaboom solo and Kyle flailing his arms around in a futile attempt to dance, the crowd was on the verge of rioting. I must say I was amazed, JB had more energy than a freakin five year old on speed. By the end of the two hour set, he was drenched in sweat and still doing rock squats like a champ. The only thing that pissed me off about their set, was that people in the audience kept chucking things at the D. Some heartless bastard pegged KG right in the side of his big bald head. I didn't see who threw it, but I hope they got what they deserved from the true D-fans. The only real downside to the show was the opening act. Hometown Hero played a one hour set during which they were booed ruthlessly. In an attempt to win favor with the crowd, the lead singer began tossing copies of their latest album into the crowd. The highlight of their set came when the audience actually began throwing copies of their album back at them! I don't want to insult Hometown Hero. Their set wasn't all bad. They knew how to rock, just not very well. That and it's just hard for a band to entertain a crowd that knows that every second longer the band plays, is a second longer they'll have to wait to see the D. But just as a side note, someone needs to tell the lead singer of Hometown Hero to learn how to dance. |
