Almost summer: Bendigo’s new three-day spring music festival

Expect to find local bands, DJs, food and drink in a pop-up outdoor space in the heart of Bendigo.

Regional Victoria has a new festival to look forward to with ‘Almost Summer’, the all-new three-day celebration of warmer days, good times and even better tunes.

Kicking off at the very end of spring, from Friday November 25th to Sunday November 27th, Almost Summer brings a wide range of local artists and up-and-coming and established acts from across the country to a pop-up outdoor event space outside the iconic Capital Theater in the heart of Bendigo’s View St arts district.

Created by Melbourne creative agency Hear Them Holler and announced as part of Always Live, there will be 16 acts gracing the new outdoor stage, ranging from squelchy pop-disco and soulful folk to alt-country and new-school RnB, offering an expansive experience for all types of music lover.

Expect to see the likes of electronic trio Black Cab, alternative folk singer-songwriter Gabriella Cohen, synth pop revivalist Geoffrey O’Connor, indie guitar-pop band Cool Sounds, the singer-songwriter Yorta Yorta Dja Dja Wurrung Carissa Nyalu, psychedelic pop experts Sunfruits, hip hop legend Pookie as well as esteemed artists Phoebe Go, Greatest Hits, Sunfruits, Freeds and Suzi and locals Nadia Phillips, Flora and Aplegate with DJ Joey Lightbulb and DJ Friday.

Melbourne’s Banangun will also bring their unique brand of Afrobeat and 60s and 70s exoticism to the Fela Kuti-esque rehearsal on stage, alongside a must-see performance by the Red Centre’s all-female First Nations act, Kardajala Kirridarra – the first since their Naarm Show in 2018.

On top of all this, liquid refreshments and locally sourced food will also be available, as well as creamy and chilled summer fruits, ice creams and popsicles to keep your dance energy levels at an all time high. optimum level. And if you’re looking to add to your vinyl collection and support featured artists, Bendigo Vinyl will host a pop-up record store throughout the event.

“Organizing the Almost Summer Music Festival was a dream come true. We’re going to organize a festival we want to go to! We are delighted to have booked Kardajala Kirridarra – a band that I have personally loved and who have not played in Victoria for over four years,” said Lior Albeck-Ripka, Creative Director of Hear Them Holler.

“While we are all experiencing one of the coldest winters in Victoria, we are busy planning this super fun all-inclusive festival of great music and great food. We want the experience to be easy, relaxed and fun, and we think of everything the public will want in order to have him on the field, ready to go.

Almost Summer will be capped at 500 tickets per day, providing a cosy, intimate and boutique festival. A full festival pass can be purchased for $150, or single-day tickets will be available between $42 and $82.
