Country music artist Toby Keith announces cancer diagnosis

Country music artist Toby Keith revealed he was diagnosed with stomach cancer in a recent tweet.

On Sunday, the 60-year-old country music superstar shared the news with his fans, along with an update on his treatment.

“Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I have spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far so good. J ‘need time to breathe, recover and relax,” the “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” singer wrote on the Instagram and Twitter post.

Despite the diagnosis, Keith remains optimistic and promised fans he would be back on stage.

“I’m looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I’ll see the fans sooner rather than later. I can’t wait. -T”

Keith did not share further details on the diagnosis. The musician has been showered with love and support from the country music world and beyond.

Keith has always been an advocate for cancer research. In 2006, the musician created the Toby Keith Foundation. The organization offers free housing to children with cancer.
