A modern music recording studio has been opened in Bulawayo and is expected to produce quality music.

X Studios, run by artist manager Morateoa Sidange, photographer and filmmaker Mr Wonderful, logistics guru Munyaradzi Ndlovu and Nicholas Zakaria’s son Lazarus Zakaria, will welcome all artists, including unknown ones.

The studio has been visited by renowned artists such as Diliza and Master Zhoe.

Sidange said the studio is a start of big things because they want to release it across the country.

“X Studios’ mission is to elevate the Matabeleland region through art as we noticed that there was a shortage of quality sound and exposure for Matabeleland artists. We want to bridge this gap and produce international sounds.

“In Roman Numerals x is number 10 and that is the goal to launch 10 studios in Zimbabwe and maybe eventually internationally. These studios will also be launched in remote areas as that is where the most of our talents, but they lack visibility,” said Sidange.

Sidange said the studio is currently run by producers Lance Hebron, DJ Drumz and Dagger. They also work with producers like Clap from South Africa, DJ Oskid from Harare and Hitsound from Nigeria.

“We currently have a studio launch riddim that is open to anyone who wants to be on it; they just have to book their slot with our administrator Gugulethu Nyathi.

“The riddim is called ‘Believe in love’ and is an initiative of a young up-and-coming artist called Judgment who is a very good young singer,” Sidange said. – @mthabisi_mthire
