Pub of the week: Cricketers is the place to listen to live music on the weekends

The Cricketers Pub in Westcliff is the place to go for live music, a wide range of spirits, craft beers and cocktails, oh and amazing food too.

Giovanna Coroallini is the general manager of the pub and she has used her expert knowledge of wines to shape the pub menu.

She was a junior sommelier for the Michelin-starred London restaurant Galvin La Chapelle. Her father Carlo also creates many wonderful dishes at the pub and so they have worked together to create some great dining experiences.

This includes a wine tasting evening on Thursday 3rd March where guests can enjoy a six course tasting menu for £40pp and for an additional £30 they can accompany the meal with fabulous wines which have been specially paired to food.

All lit up – attractive pub exterior.

The Corallini family have run the pub for eight years and Giovanna has been the general manager for two.

The team includes mum Cassandra, dad Carlo and sister Cristina.

“The Cricketers was one of Southend’s earliest pubs and dates back to the 13th century,” said Giovanna.

“We have established ourselves as the go-to pub for live music. The pub has a capacity of 200 people and we really draw crowds for our live events.

The spirits collection includes more than 70 different types of gin, the cocktail menu offers delicious artisanal specialties such as Aperol Trees, Negronis, Campari G&T’s and many more.

“All of our cocktails are served with dehydrated fruit for added flavor,” Giovanna said. “The chef only uses fresh, local ingredients, to guarantee incredible flavors and aromas.”
